How to host a World Cup party

June 18, 2018
Categories: ,

If you’re a fan of the beautiful game, 14th June is a red-letter day. That’s the official start date of the 2018 Fifa World Cup, which will kick off – literally – in Moscow. This is when hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia just after the Opening Ceremony. How better to celebrate the start of a month-long festival of football, than by spending quality time feasting with friends? Expert entertaining is easier than you think with our handy guide.

At Caple, we know a well-stocked wine cabinet is the perfect way to get the World Cup party started. You can choose from a huge range of styles and sizes. However, we suggest you look for a

wine cabinet, which will create optimum storage conditions for your wine. This way you can feel confident that your wine will maintain the correct temperature, humidity and air circulation.

Aperitifs made easy

30cm Wine Cooler Single Zone in Stainless Steel in a Kitchen

An understated yet ultra-stylish option, our Wi3125 undercounted single zone cabinet features five sliding shelves and a reversible door. It stores up to 19 Bordeaux-style wine bottles. Or you can even convert it into a can chiller using optional glass shelving for maximum versatility. Best of all, this model can accommodate Prosecco bottles – perfect whether you’re toasting your team’s success, or drowning your sorrows, come the final whistle!

Fuller fridge-freezer

It’s not just your guests’ glasses you need to keep filled.
Make sure you stock your fridge-freezer too, so you won’t be caught short if the game

– and your World Cup party – goes to extra time. This way, you can store plenty of frozen and fresh food and even ice to help keep drinks cool.

Our CAFF46GM fridge-freezer features four compartments. You can use one section as a fridge or freezer, as required, ensuring all of your party food is chilled or frozen to perfection

Style statement

Thanks to the rise of open-plan living, more of us are entertaining in a combined kitchen/family space. However, this means your appliances can be on display! So, why not look for a WAG-worthy statement piece? Even if you pick just one appliance with the ultimate kerb appeal, this will create a perfect talking point. After all, you might just need a break and something different to discuss apart from football(!) at half-time.

Featuring innovative retro styling with an on-trend copper and black glass finish, our Nosta downdraft has four speeds (including a boost function with automatic timer) so you can be confident your guests won’t be exposed to lingering odours. Best in class and easy on the eye, think of our Nosta as the Cristiano Ronaldo of kitchen extractors

Feeding the fans

These days, half-time refreshments mean much more than traditional orange slices. So, you’ll need a decent-sized hob on which to create a variety of mouth-watering dishes.
Choose a five-burner hob and we think this will help you quickly cook up at storm for your World Cup party guests.

Let’s face it – it will look stunning, too! Look for a hob with sturdy, practical cast iron pan supports, too. This will then allow you to slide pans from burner to burner without needing to lift them. So, you won’t need muscles like Messi, even if you’re feeding hordes of hungry football fans!

Our C789G gas-on-glass five-burner hob features a central 4.2kW triple ring burner – perfect for wok cooking – and a 2.6kW rapid burner that helps bring pans to the boil quickly. The rapid burner is a real bonus when time is tight and you don’t want to miss a second of the match

If you’re planning to serve your guests canapés and lighter bites at your World Cup party, a built-in, electric double oven will be more than up to the job. Look for a total capacity of around 100 litres for plenty of space to cook up light bits and sweet treats to feed your fans. With a good selection of functions, you can be confident your mini pizzas and burgers will always be on point.

Our Sense C3371 A-rated built-in electric double oven offers an impressive 101-litre total capacity. The 40-litre main oven offers four functions (conventional heat, full grill, base heat and top heat), with a 61-litre second oven, which has no fewer than eight functions

When the match is coming to an end, show dirty dishes the red card with a dishwasher, which will leave your crockery and glassware gleaming.
You’ll need to keep any noise to a minimum once you’ve tidied up and stacked your appliance. So, choose a model

with a low sound level, which allows you to switch it on and enjoy your World Cup party, watching the rest of the match undisturbed. Did you know our Di841 dishwasher always achieves a winning performance?
Let’s hope Gareth Southgate & co can deliver the same!

Ending the game

Which Best Buy 45cm Integrated Dishwasher

Our Di481 dishwasher, which earlier this year achieved a Which? Best Buy award. This sleek, slim-line appliance was commended for its “brilliant cleaning [and] excellent drying…the eco programme is energy and water- efficient.” This award-winning dishwasher’s noise level is just 49dB (quieter than normal conversation, which is around 59dB). The eco setting cuts electricity consumption by 28%, and saves move than three litres of water every time you use
